My Supports

"My Supports"

The biggest support in my life comes from God. Although I can not physically see or touch him I know that he is there everyday helping me get through this life. I think that having someone that I can talk to and not have to worry hide anything is what keeps me going. The next biggest support comes from my family. My family is there always, no matter what the case. My family is able to pick me up when I am feeling down. The biggest piece of my family where my support comes from is my mother. I don't know what I would do without her. She has my back no matter what; she always supports any decision I make, right or wrong. My mother is always there with a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen. My son keeps me sane. Seeing the look on his innocent face lets me know that all my work is not in vain. Even after a frustrating day at work, when I see his face I feel at ease.  At work my assistant teacher is a great support. She helps me get through the day and keeps me smiling. On the days that she is not there, I feel like I am running a rat race. Right now my family is really supporting and helping me. Currently my job has been forced to cut our working day tremendously, this really frightens me because I have become accustomed to a certain level of budgeting. Then to top that off now we are going to be forced to take a major pay cut.  I am really nervous while awaiting the final decision, my family is keeping me calm and letting me know that everything will be okay. My fiance is telling not to worry that we will make it and I believe, it is just hard for me. Without my support team I don't know where I would be or what I would do.

My Connections to Play

My Connections to Play

You are worried about seeing him spend his early years in doing nothing.  What!  Is it nothing to be happy?  Nothing to skip, play, and run around all day long?  Never in his life will he be so busy again.

When I was younger I was always encouraged to go outside and play. If I was not playing then my parents thought that something was wrong with me. My parents wanted my siblings and I to go out and be active with our peers. My parents would even come play an interactive part in our pretend games. There were many days when my parents would make the whole family take a trip on roller skates around the neighborhood. The children in the neighborhood could not wait to get outside to play. We would all rush home after school to do our homework so that we could get outside to play. I think that by being so active outside I was able to explore all different aspects of nature. I loved to go to the park. I could swing all day. I miss the days of just wanting and being able to play outside freely.

The prime purpose of being four is to enjoy being four - of secondary importance is to prepare for being five.

I think that children today do not value the outdoors. I do not think that they are aware of all the cool games that are available to them if they would just open their eyes to nature. The children today are more concerned with getting the highest score on the next video or computer game. Children do not know how to play nor are they encouraged enough to get outside and enjoy the breeze.

"Relationships"

Relationships are very important because they provide support. Relationships help to make you a well rounded person. Positive relationships provide a person(s) for me to vent to when I need a listening ear. At this point in my life the second most important relationship that I have is the one that I have with my son. Although he is only two years old, he is my everything. My son always knows what to do or say even if I am having a terrible day he can always turn my frown upside down. The relationship that I have with my son's father is important to me too. We have our ups and downs but we are always there for each other. The relationship that I have with my mother is super important. My mother is very important to my life. She is very critical to me and my life. The biggest challenge for me when it comes to developing or maintaining relationship is that I am very shy. I am learning that I must be more outspoken once I develop a positive relationship. I think that all of my mentioned relationships are partnerships because we all work together for the good of everyone involved.

NAEYC Codes

1} To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child.
-This is very important to me because I know that all children are special and deserve all the best. I know that all children are different and special so they should be treated with respect.

2}  To appreciate the vulnerability of children and their dependence on adults.
-This is meaningful to me because I don't think that we as adults always realize how much children depend on us because they do not know how to take care of themselves.

3} To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.
-This is meaningful because this is a reason that I decided to go back to school. I want to know about all and any new teaching methods that will help me to succeed.

My Childhood Web

My mom(Annie) is the foundation of my life. She always lends a helping hand when I need one. She is very caring and giving. My mom means everything to me. She always goes the extra mile to make sure that the family is taken care of and has everything we need. My mom continues to encourage my sisters and me everyday to do all that we want to do. She always puts other's needs before her own.

My grandmother(Frankie) although she is deceased, continues to have an influence on my life. My grandmother taught me that if you want something that you have to work for it. She taught me that life is what you make of it. She showed me the meaning of  unconditional love for a family. She was very wise and passed her wisdom on to the family. She always kept a positive attitude even when things were rough, she always wore a smile. My grandmother always wanted her children and grandchildren have and be more than she was able to do because of her limited education. My grandmother always held education very high in respect. She is one reason that I am continuing my education.

My fourth grade teacher(Ms. Hammock) inspired me to want to become an educator. Ms. Hammock showed her students unconditional love and care. Ms. Hammock was positive and only allowed her students to be positive. Ms. Hammock was more than just a teacher, she was also a friend, a mentor, and a shoulder to lean on.  Ms. Hammock took time to make sure her students understood the lessons that she was teaching, making sure to not leave anyone behind.

My 11th grade health teacher (Coach Carter), he was more than a teacher. He was an encourager and motivator. I liked the way that he touched so many lives at once. Coach Carter not only helped us to keep up our physical help but he also helped us work on our mental health. He helped us to know that we are more than just our environment, that we could be more than just athletes and musicians. The community that the school was located in was not the best or ideal but he let us know that we could and should be more than our surroundings. He inspired many people to go to college. He did everything that he could to make sure that everyone that wanted to apply did get a chance to do so. He even spoke directly to enrollment advisors to help some students get into college.

My best friend (Julene), is inspirational. She is a very giving and kind hearted-person. She pushes herself beyond what some may consider limits to make sure that those close to her are happy. She gives all that she can whenever she can. She always helps me whenever I need help. She keeps me going and keeps my spirits up when I am feeling down. She lets me know that I can do anything that  I want to do.
